Freedom’s Rush

Ebook – September 26th, 2013

Ebook | $2.99 Paperback | $17.95

When you’re out riding, things happen. If you keep at it, everything happens…. Thus goes the simple wisdom of Foster Kinn in Freedom’s Rush: Tales from a Biker and His Beast. Join Foster Kinn as he travels through the continental United States with an occasional detour into Canada, experience with him all that can happen in the “day in a life” of a biker: “Sometimes you’re hungry, sometimes you eat too much. Sometimes you’re unbearably hot, sometimes painfully cold. You lose things and get lost; you find things and find your way. You fall in love, you find things to despise. You bleed and you heal; you get sick, then you’re invincible. The rains pelt, the snows blind, the winds make you helpless. You ride through gorgeous scenery and through desolate wastelands; all places are the way they’re supposed to be and they’re all perfect. It’s life in microcosm.” In part a celebration of the grandness of this wide, wonderful world, in part a meditation on the meaning of freedom and our sacred right to create, you will laugh with Kinn at all the wonderfully wacky characters he meets on the road, and you will be dazzled by the utter joy he finds as he rides. When you read the last line, you will know what he means when he writes: As long as freedoms exist, we will ride; As long as we ride, freedoms will exist.

Editorial Review

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - If you ride you'll love it

I loved this book. There's only one thing I didn't like--I didn't want it to end. I've read a number of motorcycle/travel/adventure books and this is definitely one of my favorites. Fun stories, a good dose of philosophy and interesting bits of history.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - For the adventurous at heart...

From the viewpoint of another writer, who is VERY picky and is a voracious reader, love love loved this book! Foster Kinn has a great voice, an easy and inviting style and a wonderful philosophy and perception of the world that I can't wait to read more of. Above all, it made me want to ride! About a month after finishing this book, my husband bought a motorcycle and we now go on rides together and with other riders. This book awakens the adventurous spirit and provides one with the excitement, exhilaration and calm that all come from the bikers life. Oh, and the Bikers' Anthem - amazing! I look forward to reading more in the future.

What a fun read! Discover the delight that is right here at home, in these United States. Meet the real people who are living real lives, so similar, yet so different from yours and mine. See the country through the eyes of Foster Kinn. Feel the air, see the colors, and enjoy the adventure!

I feel like I had a vacation of my own, and like I had the opportunity to see the heart of America in it's many, many locations. I'm eager for more, Mr. Foster Kinn! Keep traveling and keep writing!

Enjoyed this book so much! You don't have to be a biker to love it. If you have a passion, if you love to travel, or if you just like a good book, this is it. But if you are a biker, read it, you will ride right along with its author!! Gwen

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This Is It!

Most books about riding & the motorcycle culture have some axe to grind or statement to make, not here. This is a book about the pure joy of riding, warts & all. Everything that can and does happen to us out there is masterfully covered yet in plain talk not in Biker speak. I highly recommend this book especially as a present for someone who rides and wants a good read for those rainy days or snowy winter months. Will be reread again & again.

A good overall book in a lot of ways, I would recommend it to riders who like a sense of humor and finding out info on a lot of places.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A joy to read and experience.... not your father's 'Biker's Story'

The dictionary says a virtuoso is: "a person who has a masterly or dazzling skill or technique in any field of activity". Mr. Kinn's writing is all that and more. He is a masterful artist and story-teller, painting a warm, funny and touching account of his discovery of the heart of America. I found the descriptions and insights a wonder to behold and you feel as if you're right there on the Beast with him. I never thought the phrases 'hard-core biker' and 'so far beyond charming' would be used in a sentence together.... I was incredibly wrong. ;) Thanks for a great ride-along!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Totally revitalizing!

I grew up on motorcycles.
But the last six years I hadn't ridden hardly at all. This book has completely revitalized the rider within me. It's shown me the freedom and limitless life that is embodied in the way of the motorcycle.
I am looking forward to many of my own adventures on the road...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great book on Bike Trips, People, and Life,

This is a great read nominally about some motorcycle rides around the US and Canada, but it is much deeper and more about people, places, and a philosophy of freedom. Anyone can enjoy this book, even if they don't ride a motorcycle. I do ride motorcycles and I have read many books about motorcycles both technical and philosophical, and this has to be one of my very favorites at least of those on the more philosophical end of the spectrum. The author, Foster Kinn, offers up some wonderful observations, experiences, and insights that simply delight. Be careful, because if any book will make you want to hit the open road and explore America ( or anyplace else ) by motorcycle this book will do it!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Philosophy and Poetry on the Road,

For those of us riders who experience long miles on many of the same roads that Foster Kinn rides, it is refreshing to see some zany and serious philosophy added to the many eye opening as well as subtle experiences that fill these journeys. Motorcycle riders all feel the freedom of the open road, but few can describe it as well as this author does.

Foster Kinn takes his readers on an amazing journey around the American West. His descriptions of the places, the people, and the sights are so incredibly vivid you can almost feel the wind in your hair. If I ever write a non-fiction biker book, I want it to read like his.

I'm reading this book slowly, bit by bit. Why ? Because I generally read in bed to fall asleep, and "Freedom's Rush" is so enthralling, I stay awake !!! It's a beautifully written, rich read. Really wonderful stuff. It takes you places.

I've always wondered what it would be like to travel long distance on a motorcycle, and now I feel like I have a pretty good idea.

I still have a lot left to read, but so far I am totally looking forward to the next bit of scenery and people that are met along the way.

What an adventure!
