Biography

Foster Kinn
Foster Kinn (a.k.a. Dwight Mikkelsen) was born and raised in Visalia, California. He
is the son and brother of Danish immigrants, the father of three, the grandfather of four, and a widower. He has been a professional musician and composer his entire adult life, and has arranged and orchestrated for many artists, including Quincy Jones, Barbra Streisand, Chicago, Whitney Houston, Elmer Bernstein, Patrick Doyle, and George Clinton; and has worked on hundreds of films and TV shows.
His primary love, however, is Classical music and in the past several years has been busy composing ballets, including Thumbelina, The Legend of Jack Frost and In Embla’s Garden. His arrangements have been performed by The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Pittsburgh Pops, and the Vienna Opera Orchestra.
He describes himself as “fundamentally a Freedom guy, a Classical music composer, and a not-too-bad-raconteur, who wishes he had more time to ride his motorcycle.”
