A Race of Devils

America’s greatest city lies in ruins after a nuclear bomb is detonated in New York Harbor during a Fourth-of-July celebration. Chaos and anarchy reign while the American government is morally adrift. The concept of liberalism has become so perverted that even chimpanzees are granted civil rights! Atheistic humanism has become the de facto religion of the state…A “Race of Devils” is not just a gripping “whodunnit.” You won’t be able to put it down. It will force you ponder the unthinkable: Can America redeem itself before it’s too late?

A Race of Devils tells the story of a former President of the United States, General James Freeman, whose term of office was tainted by a sex scandal. In 2061, after New York City is devastated in a nuclear attack, he returns to public service as the military governor of a multi-state area under martial law called the Atlantic Cordon. His appointment is controversial: most people think that, at seventy-two, General Freeman is too old to handle the Herculean task of controlling the flight of the refugees, delivering aid to the areas hardest hit, and restoring law and order. From the start, he is haunted by past vanities and misjudgments and, before long, his hopes for personal renewal and glory are laid waste by the emergence of a new threat, this one of his own making.

Here is your portal to a godless America where the secular humanists ride herd over its culture and politics. But the attack on New York opens the door to a new menace, and one bold man steps through it on his way to building a new world order. In him, the Nietzschean vision of the Superman is realized.

Not the ability to fly, or X-ray vision, but nevertheless terrific powers, powers of empathy and kindness, the ability to make another whole, to pick up the pieces and put a man together again.

Just perhaps, just imagine.

This book of poetry, Little Worlds, is about worlds of your own creation where you personally create wonder.  Using the medium of poetry – a concentrated language – Little Worlds endeavors to give us a glimpse into the magnitude of our own ability.  And if it were so, what if…

What if…

What if?

You are much more beautiful than you ever imagined.

You are wiser, more compassionate and of greater use than, in many cases, you have been taught to
believe. Your dreams matter. Your personal pursuit of happiness matters. You matter.

You are an immortal spiritual being. You have a unique, personal magnificence. It is my viewpoint that
poetry is a concentrated and direct language with which that special wonder that is you can be addressed
and drawn out.

This book is about your capacity to love; to be amazed and
astonished. It’s about the unacknowledged grace that you
possess. It concerns your native potential to create.

This book was written with the purpose of communicating to
the untapped magic inside of you; the special personal artistry
that belongs to you.

My intention in writing this book was to speak to the miracle
that is you.

Much Love,

Immersed in World War II propaganda, a 10-year-old Nebraskan child, Sis, is convinced all Germans are monsters. Her brother, Danny, is fighting Germans in North Africa. Then she meets Horst, an inmate in a near-by Prisoner of War Camp. He’s friendly, funny, and helps her save an injured magpie. She trusts him with her fears, but, shaken by ambivalence, tells no one about the relationship.

As events transpire, Sis ponders: Is Horst friend or foe? She can’t be sure. Then Danny comes home a shattered stranger, his diary filled with Nazi atrocities. Forcibly reminded all Germans are foes, she betrays Horst’s friendship to intransigent Nazis in the POW camp because she hears they punish American sympathizers. What she doesn’t know is that the evil of Hitler’s gestapo reaches all the way into these camps.

Sis learns what they did to Horst from a nurse who works in the POW infirmary; the result of torture, it leaves the kind German maimed for life. She is devastated. Decades later, Sis still grieves the unthinkable damage they did him and, as she sees Swastika earrings on a child, she remembers how their friendship was twisted by the malignant power of hatred. She prays for forgiveness for herself and asks mercy for a world again awash in hate.

[maxbutton id="1" text="Ebook | $7.99" url="/product/waiting-zoe-ebook/"] [maxbutton id="2" text="Paperback | $19.95" url="#"]

“A sweeping novel of love and loss, city and country, growing old and staying young. Waiting for Zoë is a thoughtful look at the ability of grown men and young women to confront change and absorb life’s most challenging moments,” writes Mark Stevens, author of Antler Dust: An Allison Coil Mystery. Waiting for Zoë is a genre-bending character driven, mainstream novel that explores a person’s ability to endure in the face of tragedy—and love. James R. Ament says, “It’s a love story, but it’s not a romance. There are underlying religious themes, but it’s not a philosophical book. There’s a little political commentary here and there, but it’s not about politics. It explores some very serious themes, but there are light moments and humor, too.” Set in Wyoming, Colorado, New York City, and Southern California, it makes the reader ask the hard question: who is in charge of creating ourselves? Ament says, “I had this story in mind about a young person who apparently has everything going for her, but then her life falls apart. The question is: Does she get it back? And if so, how?” And from writer Stephen Knapp, Evergreen Newspapers. “The characters are sharply defined and appealing, and the dialogue flows smoothly and moves the narrative along at a comfortable pace. The settings and situations are neither contrived nor trite, and the conflicts are at once challenging and accessible. In short, there’s nothing within Waiting for Zoë that marks its author as a newcomer to the literary stage,”(Reprinted with permission of Evergreen Newspapers).
